UPDATE (3/17/21): Parking reservations are no longer required.
Killington Resort has announced their plans for a required parking reservation system during the 2020 – 2021 ski season in an effort to limit capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Under this plan, all guests who travel by car to the resort will be required to have a parking reservation in order to ski. (This includes those who are just dropping people off.) If you travel by shuttle, Bus or ski on/off property, you will not be required to have a parking reservation.
Parking reservations open on November 5 and allow anyone to make up to 7 days of advance reservations. You may do this for each member of your group, so for example, a family of four may have 28 advance parking reservation days. Once one of those days is used, you may make one additional advance reservation.
There will also be a seven day rolling window where you may make reservations for that immediate week based on availability. These reservations are unlimited within that timeframe.
Parking System/Process Highlights
- No Parking Needed, Just a Beast Pass: Those traveling by public transportation such as The Bus, who have ski in/ski off access or are lodging within walking distance of the resort do not need a parking reservation.
- Uphill: Once uphill travel routes open for the season, a parking reservation is not needed if you are parking outside the time, we are scanning for parking access – weekends and peak days we will begin scanning at 7:00 A.M.; mid-week (non-peak) we begin scanning at 8:00 A.M. If you are planning to up-hill travel during scanning operating hours, you will need to make a reservation
- Last Minute Spots: Additional inventory will be released prior to 9:00 A.M daily throughout the season. Other guests will also have the ability to change or cancel reservations which could open up inventory.
- Drop Offs: if you are planning to drop someone off at the resort a parking reservation is required to access the various drop off zones that we have around the resort.
- Car Info: You must reserve with your name, email and license plate. Once you pick up your rental car, please plan to update your reservation with the rental car license plate information before arriving to the resort (Rose Note: this to me means wait to update the reservation if you don’t know who’s driving that day)
- What You Can Reserve: You are able to book up to seven advance days throughout the season and an unlimited number of days in the rolling 7-day window immediately following the current date (Notes: a few things here, 1. reserve 7 busy days ASAP 2. Once you use those days hurry up and get other future days so you always have 7 advance days in the bank 3. Be smart about the 7 day window, so if you know you want next Friday get on the app when you wake up the Friday prior to grab it now that it’s in the window 4. Rinse & repeat)
- (Thanks to @Rose in the Killington Locals+ group for this summary.)
We highly recommend making your reservation for parking tomorrow (November 5) when this program launches in order to secure your desired dates. More details on this plan can be found on the Killington website and their FAQ does a good job of explaining all the intricacies of this system.
Guest staying at our properties with a shuttle or within walking distance will not need a reservation unless they plan to travel by car. Private shuttles and The Bus schedules are still being planned at this time.
Please let us know in the comments if you have any questions and we’ll try and answer them.

Woo-hoo! October 17, 2020 was officially the first snow of the season on Killington peak.
Look for a scheduled opening date of November 14, 2020 and we hope to see you soon!
Killington Resort presented some of their 2020 – 2021 operating plans at today’s Annual KPAA Meeting. While still needing time to figure out the process of their previously announced parking reservation system, they did touch on a number of other previously announced and unannounced changes.
The main goal in this new Covid-19 world is to take whatever precautions they can to keep operating safely – for guests, employees, the community and the state in general. No one wants a situation where a closure is forced due to an outbreak. To these ends, many capacity restrictions have been announced. Mike Solimano, President of Killington Resort, stated that a big goal of the season would be to move as many weekend skiers to midweek skiing as possible. He thought that with a goal of 50% reduction in weekend capacity, they may only have to see an actual 30-40% drop in visitors for a weekend based on other measures being taken. The Resort will not be making any cuts to snowmaking or lift operations and will focus all their early efforts on the upper mountain which may result in some of the best conditions for intermediate and advanced skiers in memory.
Here’s the quick overview:
Opening Dates
Killington will open November 14 (weather permitting) and Pico will open December 19.
- The focus will be on top to bottom quality skiing
- Multiple lifts
- Early season terrain park
- Treat your car as the lodge – no bags allowed inside lodges
- Passholders only + IKON pass
Capacity Limits
- Reducing numbers is key even though skiing is an outdoor activity and there are 2,000 skiable acres and two resorts to spread out on.
- Guests already have to wear masks, gloves and goggles. Expect further guidance on what type of masks may be acceptable.
- The resort needs to know how many people are coming and reduce visits on busy days. To do that, they need to change guest behaviors.
- The product and pass changes include:
- No Costco, bulk program and bus group discount products
- College pass is now midweek only
- K-tickets are no longer on sale
- All orders will be done in advance. Day tickets will be available in limited quantities. Details TBD.
- Local/discounted passes moved to mid-week only.
- Lift capacity will be restricted:
- Double: 1 unrelated party / 2 related parties
- Triple: 1 unrelated party / 3 related parties
- Quad: 2 unrelated parties / 4 related parties
- Six: 3 unrelated parties / 6 related parties
- Gondolas: TBD unrelated parties / 8 related parties
The parking reservation system is still a work in progress and more details will be announced in the coming weeks. If you take a shuttle bus or come from a ski on/off location, the goal is that you would not have to make a reservation. Passholders will have priority.

Technology
The Killington App will be released and provide:

- Group tracking to see where friends/family are on the map in real time
- Track your runs (vertical skied, lifts ridden, trails skied). Email summary at end of day and in app.
- Push notifications for mountain-wide alerts
Text messaging will be set up for emergency alerts. There will be a new food and beverage contactless payment system that will allow you to order from the table by scanning QR codes. This will require new passes which will be mailed on October.

To all our customers and partners,
We have resumed rental operations according to Vermont’s Be Smart, Stay Safe guidelines regarding Covid-19 and travel restrictions.
All guests are required to complete the Vermont Be Smart, Stay Safe form before their arrival. In addition, at our condos, all indoor amenities remain closed at this time due to state Covid-19 guidance.
Thank you.
One sure way to tell the ski season has started is the arrival of the Local Yokel Party at The Wobbly Barn steakhouse in Killington.
This annual event features half off entrees at the Wobbly Barn on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 from 4:30pm to close. It’s sure to be a packed event and one well worth attending. We’re looking forward to a nice steak and the salad bar. (The damn Keto diet will keep us from the fresh baked bread unfortunately.)
Hope to see you there!
November 1 was the day.
With colder temps finally arriving, Killington kicked their snowmaking into full time operation blasting the North Ridge area as well as Superstar. Needing just a couple of days to provide sufficient coverage, many are predicting an opening day early this week!
If you want to get a view of the current snowmaking, be sure and check out the new North Ridge Triple webcam.
Woo-hoo! Looks like Killington is getting its first taqueria.
Taco Experiment was just granted a liquor license from the town for a new space at the former site of Wally’s Diner. The owner, Adam Lindberg, has one location in Poultney, Vermont and looks to expand with a new Killington outpost. Serving locally-sourced pork from Brown Boar Farm in Wells, local bison and beef and tortillas from the Vermont Tortilla Co., along with eclectic condiments like kimchi and various pickles, and his own home-smoked brisket, his new spot at the access road will be a welcome addition to Killington’s dining options.
